How Can We Help Make Peace Possible? - An Evening with Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib in conversation with Josh Glancy
Sunday, 18 January, 7PM
North - West London Location - To be confirmed after you purchase your ticket, please check your email.
Join a special evening with Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, a Palestinian-American humanitarian activist, writer, and political analyst originally from Gaza who works to advance peace-focused, pragmatic Palestinian advocacy.
Alkhatib is the founder and executive director of Project Unified Assistance and a resident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council, where he leads Realign For Palestine and writes on Gaza’s humanitarian and political realities. Drawing on his lived experience, including the loss of 32 family members during the war in Gaza, and his academic background in intelligence and national security, Alkhatib advocates for nonviolence, mutual recognition, and a two-state solution.
Alkhatib has been critical of parts of the pro-Palestinian protest movement in the West when he believes they excuse violence or hinder constructive progress. He is also an outspoken critic of Hamas and uses his platform to challenge entrenched narratives in pursuit of a more humane and sustainable future for Palestinians and Israelis.
Ahmed will be in conversation with Josh Glancy, Associate Editor at The Sunday Times, for a thoughtful and engaging discussion.
The evening will also include an introduction from Rabbi Charley Baginsky (Co-Lead, The Movement for Progressive Judaism) and reflections from communal leaders: Phil Rosenberg (President, Board of Deputies), Raymond Simonson (CEO, JW3), and Rabbi Jeremy Gordon (New London Synagogue).
Organised by: MPJ (The Movement for Progressive Judaism), UJS (Union of Jewish Students), Jewish News, Yachad, We Democracy, and the Choose Democracy & Peace coalition.
