Autumn Barn Dance
Fri 18 Oct 2024 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Weedon Bec Village Hall, NN7 4QL
Description
Join us in Weedon Bec for a Friday night with a difference!
A barn dance (or ceilidh) is a fun night of social dancing that everyone can join in with.
You don't need to know the steps beforehand as our dance caller, Lisa Heywood, will teach the dances as we go along. Complete beginners welcome!
As always we'll have live music (band TBC).
There will be water available for free, but you're also welcome to bring your own drinks.
Check out the video below for a taste of what's in store...
Access
There is wheelchair access to the building via a ramp and electric operated door. There is also an accessible toilet and disabled parking spaces are available.
Click here for more information about the facilities at Weedon Village Hall.
If you have any questions about access please get in touch with Lisa at hello@lisaheywood.net.
Inclusion
We aim to be as inclusive as possible. One way that we do this is to use "gender-free" dance instructions. This means that we won't use gendered terms (e.g. the men do X and the women do Y) to teach the dances, and everyone can dance with whoever they like. To find out more, read Lisa's article about gender free calling for the English Dance and Song magazine.
Travel
By car: Weedon is easy to get to via the A45, A5 and M1 (just off Junction 16). There's plenty of parking at the village hall, including disabled spaces close to the entrance. Additional parking is also available a short walk away at Jubilee Fields.
Buses: You can also get to Weedon from Northampton, Daventry and surrounding villages on the D1 bus (but note that the last buses leave at around 8:15, so you would need to get a taxi back).
Train: The closest station is Long Buckby, which is then a 10min taxi ride from Weedon
