About Everybody to Kenmure Street:
"A love letter to peaceful protest." Screen International
"a morale-boosting film." ★★★★ The Guardian
May 2021: the Home Office selects the first day of Eid al-Fitr to target Scotland’s most diverse community in Pollokshields with dawn raids. Quickly, the residents of Glasgow are in the streets, under immigration vans and unwilling to allow the deportation of their neighbours. Executive produced by Emma Thompson (who speaks the words of those unable to identify themselves on camera), Everybody to Kenmure Street is the documentary story of this heroic mass resistance, told as a patchwork of a community voices.
In a time where it can be hard to see our collective humanity, Kenmure Street emphasises the spontaneous potential to find justice for our fellow man. While thoughtfully showing the historical specificity of Glasgow’s place in resistance, it is also an inspiring story of street-level peaceful politics wherever you are.
