MAKE NEW FRIENDS! A Speed Friending Event in Sydney
Please join us for a fun night of making new connections! Sydney, according to a TimeOut survey published last year, was voted the "third least friendliest" city in the world. We're here to change that, one speed-friending event at a time. All genders are welcome!
This special event will be hosted by the hilarious Jennifer Wong, host of ABC's Chopsticks or Fork show.
How the night will unfold: half of the group is seated, and the other half of the group is rotating. Every 3 minutes, the rotating group will move to another seated person. During these intervals, each pair of people will be given “icebreaker” questions, which will hopefully help them spark a friendship. There will be hosts nearby to help break those silences. For those coming alone - we got you! Most people do and we’ll help you make friends in no time. When the event concludes, participants can submit a list to us, the organisers, of participants they would like to share their contact information with.
The ticket includes a welcome drink and a spread of delicious food (Malaysian food and other delectable treats). There'll be vegetarian options available. You can also donate an extra $5, and this will go to Wayside Chapel, a charity that is at the forefront of supporting people who experience social isolation.
*Please note that this is an 18+ event.
Welcome Merchant is a social enterprise that elevates entrepreneurs who identify as a refugee, a former refugee and/or as a person seeking asylum via our online directory, free skill building workshops, merchandise partnerships and event partnerships.
