LITHA | Community Gathering
An invitation to gather in the portal of the Summer Solstice for Litha - pronounced; lee-tha - marking midsummer. According to the old folklore calendar, Summer begins on Beltane May 1st, ending on Lughnassadh August 1st with the Summer Solstice marking the midway between the two.
A community focused and family friendly gathering, welcoming the exchange of nourishing connection, music and food.
Hosting the longest daylight hours of the year and the shortest night, the Sun reaches the apex in its cycle before we hear the first whispers of its retreat, beginning its return into darkness as the days grow shorter and the nights longer.
By the warmth of the fire we will commemorate the seasonal journey of the Sun God reaching his greatest strength, giving our thanks and reflections on that which has nourished us and supported our growth. Alongside the reminder that there is no perpetual summer and that we must also remember to let go, intentionally making space to release what is no longer aligns for us, what we have completed or outgrown and relationships that have run their course.
Tales of the oak king as he heralds the crossing of the threshold to the waning part of the year will be shared before a nourishing ‘potluck’ style meal. Community music, the sharing of poems and song are welcomed, the evening will also weave a guided ritual in line with the Litha energies.
These gatherings have previously welcomed no financial exchange - from Litha onwards this will shift slightly introducing a donation request which we hope will continue to make these gatherings as accessible as possible whilst honouring the energy in both time and love that we weave into holding this space for the benefit of all.
For those who wish to stay immersed in the woodland spaces and energy, accommodation is available in our woodland accommodation cabin. There is also the invitation to rise with us around 5am on Saturday 22nd (no pressure to take part in this) to welcome and watch the sunrise.
Nestled amidst the serene embrace of 5.5 acres of private woodland, our accommodation cabin is an open-plan twelve bed dwelling designed for restorative rest and recalibration. Surrounded by the majestic beauty of towering trees, the cabin offers a tranquil space to retire in the evening and rise in the morning bathed in the melodic symphony of bird song. Inside, a cosy log stove stands as the heart of the cabin, casting a warm glow that fills the space with soothing energy during the dark evenings and early mornings. Soft, luxurious organic cotton bedding sourced from a first-class, family-run farm in India caresses you during your rest.
We are also happy to recommend local hotels and accommodation if you wish to stay externally.
