Participation and democratic decision-making in our economy is a key principle of the Wellbeing Economy and is attracting increasing attention. The Scottish Government has recently commissioned an independent review on how to upscale inclusive and democratic business models and has promised to bring forward Community Wealth Building legislation.

But what is economic democracy and why is it important for redesigning our economy to deliver social justice on a healthy planet?

Join us for this important discussion at a joint meeting of the Cross Party Groups on Wellbeing Economy, Social Enterprise and Circular Economy. We will have a range of expert speakers joining us for the discussion, including:

  • Robert McMaster, Professor of Political Economy, University of Glasgow
  • Neil McInroy, Global Lead for Community Wealth Building at The Democracy Collaborative
  • Susan Pinkney, Head of Research and Insight at Carnegie UK
  • Lucinda Broadbent, Company Director, Media Co-op worker's cooperative
  • Michael Cook, CEO at Circular Communities Scotland
