Panel: Inclusive Recruitment and Hacking Bureaucracy

This is the fifth and final instalment of the Dreaming up a Disability Inclusive Workplace webinar series hosted by the Wellcome Anti-ableist Research Culture (WAARC) project at the University of Sheffield. It runs monthly between October 2025 and March 2026. Topics were chosen by surveying members of the National Association of Disabled Staff Networks (NADSN) and we've curated workshops and talks from disabled professionals from a variety of backgrounds and industries.

Join us for a panel on Inclusive Recruitment and Hacking Bureaucracy with Tam Gilbert and Ian Abbott of Extant, the UK’s leading professional performing arts company that explores visual impairment to create unique and innovative artistic experiences. Extant is currently undergoing a major structural overhaul and its directors have agreed to share their insights on that process with us.

Accessibility

This session will be relaxed -– or as relaxed as zoom allows. Keep your cameras off if you want, bring your favourite stim toy, grab a snack and hang out! You won't be called upon or required to participate or talk if you don't want to.

We will use auto-captions and we will clarify if captions make up any interesting new words or phrases. 

BSL interpreters will be interpreting live during the event. Each session will be recorded for the internal use of participants.

Audio description will be embedded into the session.
