Farmer For A Day
Farmer For A Day is an activity day for aspiring young farmers and animal lovers aged 8+. Participants will join our DBS checked staff in a small group and take part in a range of farm activities over the course of the day. Each day varies but typically includes animal handling, mucking out and a less usual job.
About the day
10AM - Safety briefing. Where things are and what to do.
12PM - Lunch. Scoff your packed lunch.
2PM - Pick-up. Show parents/carers what you've learned & done.
Coming to Wellgate Farm
Participants will be entering animal pens, handling animals, feed and poop. If they don't get covered in some or all of those things then we've not given them the full farm experience. Only send your child in clothing you are happy to - same goes for shoes, hiking boots, wellies, or old trainers very much preferred - consider yourself warned!
Please ensure your child is dressed and prepared for the conditions - check the forecast on the day. You could need a waterproof coat & woolly hat, or we could be lucky and it may be sun-cream! Also please ensure that your child has a packed lunch and a refillable drink bottle.
We have toilets and a shop selling sweets and drinks on-site, if you would like them to be able to use the shop we can accept cash & cards.
Very Important Small Print
Our insurers require all participants in this activity to be 8-years-old or over.
Our staff are DBS checked and have received safeguarding training. If your child has additional medical, social, emotional needs, or allergies we need to be aware of then please let the member of staff running the event know. There will also be forms to fill in with emergency contact details - please allow time to complete these at the start of the day.
This event may be cancelled if there are too few participants. If this happens we will issue a full refund.
