21-Day Contact Improvisation Collaborative Laboratory
for living in times of uncertainty
June 1 – 21, 2026 · Portugal
Hosted by ASSEMBLY
THE INVITATION
Dear friends and friends-to-be,
We are very excited to announce a new CI-based project.
HORIZONS is a collaborative, co-creative research space focused on mutual support, empowerment, and transcendence. It is a barter-based learning ecology — an exchange of practices, resources, and embodied knowledge — designed for individual and collective harvesting.
Together, we cultivate awareness, vitality, resilience, clarity, and meaning, while actively practicing reciprocity, generosity, equity, and extended care.
HORIZONS is a call for those who wish to go deeper and wider than traditional festival, workshop, or camp formats — into a transformational container where each participant is invited to fully commit, engage their response-ability, and become an active co-author of the experience.
Times of uncertainty and radical change can be unsettling and disorienting. We recognize the power of community and cooperation, knowing we can learn deeply from one another. We believe the future belongs to those willing to meet, share, collaborate, dance, and co-create.
We see Contact Improvisation as a practice-space that can support readiness, adaptability, cohesion, belonging, joy, and resilience — if we consciously use it for these means.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
As organizers, we do not propose fixed teaching material.
Instead, we create a structure where participants offer and exchange their gifts, practices, and inquiries based on a shared weekly collective focus.
- Anyone can propose a session
- No need to be a “professional” facilitator
- Supportive of emergent facilitators
- Inclusive of experimental and more-than-CI practices
- A daily voting process shapes the following day’s schedule
The format itself is a practice in uncertainty, responsiveness, and collective authorship.
Daily Rhythm (approx.)
- 10:00 – 13:00 · Morning Lab / Jam
- 16:00 – 18:00 · Afternoon Lab / Class
- 20:00 – 22:00 · Evening Jam / Score / Movie
HOW CAN I JOIN?
The 21-day program unfolds in three distinct weeks, each with a collective focus:
- June 1 – 7 · Mutual Support
- June 8 – 14 · Mutual Empowerment
- June 15 – 21 · Mutual Transcendence
Priority is given to participants joining the full program.
It is possible to join from:
- Day 1 of Week 1, or
- Day 1 of Week 2
(It is not possible to join only for Week 3.)
