Two impulsive, unpredictable, extravagantly gendered late-night talkshow hosts — Dasha Plett and Gislina Patterson — invite real life men into a cardboard and construction paper television studio to talk about their passions, fears, and what it’s like to be a man. Performed live for a small in-studio audience, live-screened by community partners across the country, or streamed directly to your laptop, Men Explain Things to Us… And We Like It! plays in the space between reality and performance to transgress and re-write the unwritten rules and social etiquette of gender relations. Directed and live-edited by Ryan Steel, with musical performances curated by send+receive.
Doors 8:30 / screening 9:30.
Experience the magic of cinema live with others at Winnipeg Film Group’s Black Lodge Studio! The livestream broadcast will be projected on the big screen for a seated audience. A variety of drink and snack items will be available for purchase.
While this is not a masked event, masks will be available at the door if you’d like one.
Venue directions and accessibility: The main entrances of the Artspace Building at Arthur St. and King St. have automatic door push triggers. The West side entrance off King St. has a wheelchair lift to access the main lobby, and there is an elevator to the 3rd floor from the main lobby. There are two washrooms on the 3rd floor that are private, locking, non-gendered washrooms. These washrooms do not have handrails or automatic doors.
