Wine tasting with Gerard Bertrand - POSTPONED (future date TBC)

In 1920, Paule Bertrand planted the family's first vines in the Corbières - carignans that are now a valiant hundred years old. In 1975, Georges Bertrand introduced his son Gérard, then aged ten, to harvesting at Château de Villemajou in the Corbières region. Georges Bertrand played a pioneering role in the revelation of Languedoc terroirs, and was instrumental in the recognition of the Boutenac cru. Gérard Bertrand has been sharing his passion for wine and his convictions with his father's pioneering spirit for over 30 years. And now a fourth generation is on the way...

At Gérard Bertrand, viticulture in harmony with nature is believed to be the best way to bring terroir wines to the highest level of excellence. This method of viticulture produces wines that reflect all the nuances of the terroirs of the South of France. Today, all the vineyards are farmed biodynamically in compliance with DEMETER specifications. At each of his estates, Gérard Bertrand has created exceptional wines from unique plots of land chosen from the finest terroirs in the Languedoc. These parcels, selected for their exceptional ampelographic and climatic situation, are positioned as grand crus of the South of France, the quintessence of Languedoc terroir.

You will be tasting 5 wines (Papilou Rose, Arte de Vivre Blanc, Orange Gold, L'Aigle Pinot Noir and Château L'Hospitalet Grand Vin Rouge La Clape) and have the opportunity to order snacking plates in advance. West 16th also serves dinner on Thursdays - if you would like to have dinner, please arrive half an hour before the start of the tasting.
