House Tour & Cream Tea - The Hidden Histories of West Dean

Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the West Dean Collections and Archive with our Collections Manager Hugh, and Archivist Simon. This is a unique opportunity to discover intriguing stories about West Dean House and some of its fascinating occupants and visitors. In the historic state rooms you will see rare paintings, furniture, tapestries, letters, documents and photographs, bringing West Dean’s rich history to life.

After a tour of the house, you’ll be hosted by Hugh and Simon in the Oak Hall, to relax in the opulent surroundings of the College with a cream tea and the chance to ask further questions.

Tour will run on various dates from October 2025 - October 2026.

Please note
Tours are limited to 30 spaces. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Due to the historical nature of the West Dean House, some areas may be inaccessible to those with mobility issues. Please get in touch meetings@westdean.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Entry is through West Dean Gardens entrance where a member of staff will check your ticket.

Please note the tour might be cancelled if numbers aren't at our minimum number. 

Cancellations:

Cancellations are permitted up to 14 days before the start of a tour, cancellations within 14 days of the tour are non refundable. You have the right to cancel within the statutory 14 day cooling off period If you have any questions or queries please contact us at meetings@westdean.ac.uk.

We reserve the right to cancel a tour in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this where possible, but sometimes it is unavoidable. In this situation, a full refund will be given. We’re sorry that we cannot be financially responsible for extreme weather conditions, travel disruption or any other situations that are outside our control.
