The Way of Truth: Meditation Day for People of Colour
Sun 1 Dec 2024 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM
West London Buddhist Centre, W2 5DP
Description
Open to all people of colour, both newcomers and regulars.
We will be teaching two key meditation practices and exploring the Dhammapada. This is one of the very earliest collection of the Buddha’s teachings which contains pithy and direct teachings on the way to Enlightenment. We will particularly be focusing on the lines:
‘Do no harm. Practise what is good. Discipline the mind.’
These encapsulate the whole of the Buddha’s teaching and give us all we need to make progress along the path to awakening.
There will be opportunities to explore the theme together, reflecting on how it can transform our everyday life, as well as deepening our experience through meditation, ritual and connection.
Please bring a vegetarian/vegan lunch to share.
Booking is open to all, whether payment is possible or not.

Jayakara: Jayakara's name means 'She who has a multitude, or mine, of victories’, connecting her to the treasures in the depths of her psyche and the victories the Buddha-to-be overcame. She continues to be inspired by the metta bhavana meditation practice and lives with her husband and son in East London.
Manjusiha: Manjusiha has lived and worked at the London Buddhist Centre and at Padmaloka Retreat Centre in Norfolk. His name means 'lovely, pleasing, agreeable lion (like the Buddha)'. He loves literature and public transport, themes that are combined in his first novel, which was described as 'a detective story set on a Routemaster bus'.
