Learn to Meditate: Touching the Earth
Multiple dates and times
West London Buddhist Centre, W2 5DP
Description
“It only takes a reminder to breathe,
a moment to be still, and just like that,
something in me settles, softens, makes
space for imperfection.”
from Danna Faulds - 'Walk Slowly'
Wouldn't we all enjoy more calm, in the face of our chaotic modern lives? Buddhist meditation can be a doorway into a world of peace and tranquility, through working with our mind and body in deep and grounding meditation practices. Along the way it helps us to develop emotional resilience towards the challenges we encounter in our lives and to respond with more kindness and compassion
Join us for a day workshop, with an experienced meditation teacher who will guide you through a range of meditation practices and techniques to get you back down to earth and in touch with your body and mind.
The day is open to all, whether you are completely new to meditation, you want to restart after time away, or you want a more thorough foundation for your practice.
The morning session will focus on mindfulness and meditation by bringing awareness to the sensations of our breathing body. Bringing awareness to the body helps us become more settled, centered and less caught up in our thoughts. The more present we are in the moment, the less our minds are busy thinking about the past or worrying about the future.
The afternoon session will build on this foundation of mindfulness with a focus on developing kindness and compassion; an essential element of Buddhist meditation which has the potential for powerful positive changes for ourselves and others.
