Fringe Dweller Workshop for CTF Students

Creative Mission, Theology, and Practice with Jonny Baker and David Cotterill

Wednesday 17 June 2026
3.00pm–5.00pm
Westminster College Cambridge

Before the evening launch of Fringe Dweller, Westminster College is hosting a special interactive workshop for CTF students with Jonny Baker of Church Mission Society.

Fringe Dweller, written by Jonny Baker and David Cotterill, is a richly creative collection of reflections, practices, liturgies, artwork, and theological responses centred on Gospel encounters where Jesus is found among people at the edges — those excluded, overlooked, questioned, displaced, or searching for healing and belonging. (Church Mission Society (CMS))

This workshop will draw on themes, passages, practices, and creative approaches from the book itself, exploring how theology, imagination, mission, worship, and art can help us engage more deeply with Jesus the “Fringe Dweller”.

The session will include:

  • Conversation with Jonny Baker about the origins and vision of the book
  • Exploration of Gospel reflections and encounters featured in Fringe Dweller
  • Creative responses to passages, themes, and practices from the book
  • Engagement with reflective and participatory practices inspired by the material
  • Discussion around mission, pioneering spirituality, worship, and theology at the edges
  • Space for conversation, participation, experimentation, and theological imagination

The workshop is particularly suited to students interested in mission, pioneering ministry, contextual theology, worship, spirituality, creativity, and contemporary expressions of Christian community.

Places are limited. Please book on a first come basis.
