Disentangling & Discerning Scripture

Sat Sep 12, 2026 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 26101

How does Scripture speak to what's going on in the world around us? How can we tell when Scripture is being weaponized? Come for an exploration of questions about queerness and about Christian Nationalism in light of the Gospel. Open to people of all faiths or no faith.

There are three options for attending:
All day (both sessions), morning only, or afternoon only. All options include lunch.

9:00 am - 12:00 pm - Understanding and responding to 6 "anti-LGBTQ+" passages

12 pm - 1 pm - Lunch (included for attendees of any session)

1 pm - 4 pm - Understanding and responding to Christian Nationalism

These sessions are for curious folks who want to learn not only what's on the pages of the Bible but how to move from page to discernment. You'll be equipped with tools for studying the Bible, with special attention being paid to the relationship of Scripture to human sexuality and to Christian Nationalism.

Sessions will be led by Rev. Cindy Briggs-Biondi, Rev. Darick Biondi, and Rev. Jenny Williams

Free childcare and lunch provided for children 11 and under
