The Art of Micro Fiction
Microfiction is storytelling stripped to its core—where every word carries the weight of paragraphs. This workshop explores the craft of creating complete narrative worlds in 100 words or fewer.
We'll dissect masterful examples and examine how great microfiction writers achieve maximum emotional impact through precise word choice, strategic omission, and powerful implications. You'll learn techniques for compressing time, building instant tension, and crafting endings that resonate.
Perfect for writers at any level seeking to sharpen their precision—novelists wanting tighter prose, poets exploring narrative compression, screenwriters mastering economy of language. Through guided exercises and hands-on writing, you'll leave with polished pieces and techniques that enhance all your writing.
Workshop Host: Autumn Bettinger is a short-form fiction writer and full-time mother of two living in Portland, Oregon.
