About the Activity

Gather with Rose Rider for a day of talking, painting & printmaking at The Old Reading Room, Goathland.

'Our Impressions of Home' is a collective banner printmaking workshop. Through images, words & colours, participants draw & cut out shapes of things that represent parts of themselves, their homes & their families, then print them onto big lengths of fabric. The finished banners are hung & displayed together as a collective piece; a shared portrait of the people & places we love.

All ages & abilities are welcome & no artistic skills are required; just an enthusiasm for getting a bit messy with paint. Please wear something you don't mind getting paint on.

Part of Whitby Gathers, a free summer arts programme across Whitby & surrounding villages, supported by Arts Council England.

What to Bring

About the Facilitator

Rose Rider is a visual artist & workshop facilitator who has worked for several years in primary schools & with community projects in the North East of England. Experienced across a range of artistic skills from printmaking to animation, Rose recently completed a series of workshops in a primary school in France for a local heritage project. Community engagement, creative collaboration & inclusive participation are at the heart of her practice.
