About the Activity

Gather with Felix Robinson and Rosalie Amber at Pannet Park, Whitby, for a drop-in poi workshop led by two experienced circus performers and flow artists.

Poi is the art of swinging weighted objects on tethers to create patterns of movement, rhythm and visual flow. In this outdoor session, Felix and Rosalie introduce participants of all ages to the fundamentals of poi; from basic two-beat weaves and figure-of-eights to more fluid, expressive sequences. The teaching is hands-on and unhurried, building confidence through repetition and play. No experience is needed — poi is genuinely accessible from the very first session, and the skills you pick up in an hour can stay with you for life.

All equipment is provided. Just come ready to move.

Part of Whitby Gathers, a free summer arts programme across Whitby and surrounding villages, supported by Arts Council England.

What to Bring

Comfortable clothes you can move freely in. All poi and equipment are provided.
