Multiple dates and times

Description
Our Star Nights for groups are back at Whitelee. These are aimed at groups, such as Cubs, Brownies, Boy's Brigade, Guides or similar who are looking to learn more about astronomy or working towards a badge in the topic. We have 3 activities over the evening, each lasting about 40 minutes and your group will go through them in turn. The three activities are;
- Introduction to Astronomy session. One of our Science Communicators will give an introduction to the night sky and highlight certain stars and points of interest. This session will be outside, weather permitting but in case of rain or clouds it could be held inside using a screen and astronomy software. If the weather is dry and clear then we ask that your group wears suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.
- Tour of the solar system session. Learn facts and information about the planets and other objects in the solar system. We will cover how it was formed, how it has changed and take a virtual trip to each of the planets.
- Astronomy craft session. We have a fun, interactive craft session learning about constellations and other objects in the night sky. All participants will also receive a astronomy guide to take home and keep so they can keep learning about the night sky.
Each night is limited to 60 participants, and on the night there will be 3 groups of around 20. For booking, the minimum ticket size is 10. These nights are primarily aimed at the 7-11 age range. Some of the content may not be suitable for younger groups but if you feel that your group would find a session interesting then you are welcome to book. There is no charge, or tickets needed, for accompanying adults and you can bring along as many as you need to manage your groups.
One of the activities will hopefully be outdoors, if we have suitable weather, so we ask that you come dressed suitably for the weather conditions on the day. If you have a torch, then please bring it, but no shoes with in-built lights. If your group has booked one of these in recent years, there may be some sessions with similar content to previous years. There will be further dates in February which will be finalised and on sale in December.
