Free From Harm: Training on Obstetric Violence [Part 1] (Facilitators TBC)

Mon 5 Oct 2026 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM BST Online, MS Teams

Overview

This is Part 1 of two 4-hour sessions of the Free From Harm course. You must book and attend both parts separately to complete the course.

Free From Harm is an online training course specifically designed for midwives, ObGyns, and other maternity healthcare professionals, focusing on the critical issue of Obstetric Violence. This training equips participants with essential knowledge and tools to safeguard their rights and those of the individuals they support during childbirth. This intensive course delves into strategies for fostering a safe, respectful, and empathetic environment in maternity care.

Course duration & format

Two highly interactive sessions (4 hours each) delivered via Microsoft Teams. Attendees must have their own computer and microphone. Participants will need to read our Free From Harm e-book before the session and complete post-course work (1–2 hours) in order to receive CPD accreditation from WRA UK.

What makes Free From Harm different:

  • Grounded in lived experience - the programme was developed with people who have experienced obstetric violence, not only clinicians
  • Emotionally honest - you will hear real accounts of obstetric violence and their long-term impact
  • Self-care included - the training addresses your own wellbeing alongside clinical practice
  • Ethical and evidence-based - at White Ribbon Alliance, our commitment to ethical and evidence-based practices aligns with the core values of this program. You can trust that the content is reliable and up-to-date.
  • Compassionate approach - we understand the importance of compassion in healthcare. Our training emphasises a compassionate and inclusive approach to perinatal care, fostering a supportive and confidential environment for all participants.
  • Advocating for change - by participating in this course, you will be contributing to the broader movement to improve outcomes for marginalised and minoritised groups, particularly focusing on Black Maternal Health
