Whiteshepherd Gallery is a contemporary art gallery. On the night, our current group exhibition Best Before will also be open, so do take your time to explore the work of the other artists on show.
A table of guavas and “expired” sweets. Look, smell, choose and taste. One evening only.
Description:
A table of guavas, some ripe, some not quite, some wrapped in newspaper to hurry them along. Among them sit handmade bocadillos, a traditional Colombian guava sweet, sealed in bijao leaves and marked with a best-before date that has already passed.
Which would you eat?
The fruit shows you its condition; the bocadillo shows you only a date. Trust your senses, choose and taste. What gets eaten and what gets left behind becomes part of the work.
The expiry dates are part of the concept of the work; all bocadillos are freshly made and safe to eat.
Entry: Free entry to the exhibition. Tickets are for tasting only.
Ticket: £5, redeemable for a piece from the table, valid until 9pm. Tickets may also be available on the door via QR code, subject to availability.
When: Monday 19 October, 6–9pm
Where: Koppel Collective, 157 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 8BB
Ingredients: Guava pulp, sugar. Wrapped in bijao leaf (Calathea lutea).
Allergens: No major allergens intentionally added. Vegetarian.
