Troubling Conversations in Everyday Settings - with Who is Your Neighbour?

Wed 3 Sep 2025 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM Barnsley Metrodome, Queens Ground, Queens Road, Barnsley, S71 1AN

One-day introductory course from the Who is Your Neighbour? facilitation team.

This course, for individuals, is designed for you if you are:

  • in a paid or voluntary role
  • likely to hear troubling things (about race, immigration, culture ... ) in your role
  • seeking support with this

It will facilitate: exploration of what exactly is happening to us and between us when we are troubled by things we hear in the course of our everyday life and work; assessment of how to choose the safest and most appropriate response; learning about possible approaches and ways of communicating in those moments when you decide it is best to open up a conversation.

You will gain:

  • increased understanding of the options available when hearing troubling comments, particularly around race, immigration, culture
  • knowledge about and practice in how to respond
  • greater confidence responding in conversations

The event runs from 10am to 4.30pm. Refreshments and lunch are included. Please arrive for registration and refreshments from 9.30am. See map below for location details. Should the event reach capacity, we can keep you informed of future dates if you wish. Just let us know.
