Restorative Justice Forum - Healing Community Harm
Wed 11 Sep 2024 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM BST
Online, MS Teams
Description
Why me?, along with the rest of the UK, were deeply affected by the Southport stabbings at the end of last month, where 3 children were killed and 10 people were injured. We watched on as Islamophobic and racist violence spread across England and Northern Ireland, leading to further harm, fear, injuries, damage to local communities and the breakdown of relationships. Why me? stands against hate and racism in all its forms, and in solidarity with the people of Southport and with communities affected by the violence.
We, like many others, have spent time considering how restorative practice could be used to repair some of the harm caused by these incidents. We are dedicating our September forum to this conversation, and invite you to join us to share ideas about how the restorative community can respond. Please bring your thoughts on how Restorative Justice could be used to address the harm caused, rebuild relationships, give communities a voice and establish a path forwards. We would love to hear any plans you have, progress that has been made in your area or opportunities for restorative work. We look forward to seeing you there.
If you would like to discuss your ideas in advance of the forum, please reach out to Keeva at keeva.baxter@why-me.org.
