Parole and Restorative Justice
Tue 8 Jun 2021 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM BST
Online, Zoom
Description
Join us on June 8th, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm to discuss best practice for taking Restorative Justice into account for decisions about Parole.
Why me? have been working collaboratively with the Parole Board, Restorative Justice facilitators, and those with lived experience of the process to create guidance on when Restorative Justice can be taken into account when someone is up for Parole. We are delighted to have Martin Jones, Parole Board CEO, headlining the event, as well as Why me? Ambassador Paul Kohler who will speak about his own experience of Restorative Justice.
This event will provide restorative practitioners with a greater understanding of the relationship between Restorative Justice and sentencing. It will stimulate debate and ideas about the impact of sentencing on victim participation in Restorative Justice, and provide an opportunity to reflect with other practitioners and Parole Board staff and panel members on how to understand the impact on offender behavior and future risk of reoffending.
This event is for Parole Panel members and staff, and for Restorative Justice practitioners and supervisors.
Please do check out our new leaflet Disclosing information to the Parole Board explained for Restorative Services and Practitioners
And make sure to check out the Parole Board guidance published on 30th April: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/parole-board
We can’t wait to see you there.
