With rising hate crime in the UK, including religious hate crime, there is an urgent need to find new approaches to strengthening community interfaith relations. Current responses to faith and race hate tend to emphasise prosecution and improving ‘hard’ security measures. Whilst there is a need to protect victims, there is also an urgency to support them and their communities to cope and recover in the aftermath of crime.
Why me? are hosting a panel discussion in partnership with the Faith and Belief Forum to discuss whether Restorative Justice can be used to heal some of the harm caused by faith-based hate crime. This exciting collaborative event is part of Restorative Justice Week and will feature conversations about how Restorative Justice can meet the needs of the interfaith community.
Panel speakers for this event include:
Stephen Silverman, Campaign Against Antisemitism
Razwana Begum, Singapore University of Social Sciences
Ali Amla, Solutions Not Sides
Whilst this is a free event, there is a cost to Why me? in running it. We would greatly appreciate a donation to help cover these costs so we can continue to offer these events. A donation can be added when you book your ticket. Thank you for your support.
