Restorative Talks: Using Restorative Justice in cases of Domestic and Sexual Violence

Why me? are delighted to invite you to the first event in our 'Restorative Talks' series, Using Restorative Justice in cases of Domestic and Sexual Violence.

This exciting first-time event will include:

• A panel of guest speakers who will explore the use of Restorative Justice in cases of domestic and sexual violence followed by a Q&A session.
  

• An opportunity to network with fellow guests at a drinks reception.

This free event is taking place on November 24th, 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm followed by a drinks reception until 7 pm at the Clifford Chance International Headquarters in London, 10 Upper Bank Street London E14 5JJ.

Why me? promotes and delivers Restorative Justice, a transformative tool that facilitates communication between the person affected by a crime, and the person responsible. Restorative Justice is a proven way to address trauma from crime and reduce re-offending. It provides the person who was harmed with a voice - to detail the impact the crime had on them, and seek answers to questions they have. It also helps the person responsible for the harm to understand the impact of their actions, and can encourage them to change their behaviour. 

For some survivors of domestic or sexual violence, meeting with the person who harmed them can be incredibly important to their journey of healing, but sometimes they face additional barriers in their journey to accessing Restorative Justice. In the first of our Restorative Talks series, we will bring together professionals from the Restorative Justice and VAWG sectors to hear firsthand how Restorative Justice has helped survivors of these crimes and discuss the importance of supporting survivors and empowering them in their choices, whilst maintaining their safety.

Becci Seaborne, A trauma-informed domestic abuse and sexual violence specialist with 22 years' management and front-line experience incorporating work with victims/survivors offenders.
