Description
Welcome back to Why me?'s Restorative Justice Forums!
This year we will be running bimonthly forums which are an opportunity to discuss ideas, network with others in the field and collaborate on important areas of work. If you have an interest in Restorative Justice, join us on the 23rd of February.
The topic we will be discussing this month is 'Communicating about Restorative Justice and domestic violence'. We will examine how Restorative Justice can be most effectively communicated to decision makers and professionals who will be in contact with people affected by crime. There will be a particular focus on the barriers faced by survivors of domestic abuse in accessing Restorative Justice and how we can overcome them.
We will be joined by our ambassador Janika who will share her experience of Restorative Justice after being stabbed by her ex-partner. She will share the struggles she faced in accessing Restorative Justice and her thoughts on how we can make it more accessible to survivors of domestic abuse.
Earlier this month HMPPS published a new policy framework on Restorative Justice. As part of this month's forum, we will be discussing it alongside our original topic. For more information on the framework, read our blog response: https://why-me.org/2023/hmpps-launches-new-restorative-justice-policy-framework/.
Whilst this is a free event, there is a cost to Why me? in running it. We would greatly appreciate a donation to help cover these costs so we can continue to offer these events. A donation can be added when you book your ticket. Thank you for your support.
