CPD Basic Woodworking Course
We are delighted to offer our CPD Basic Woodworking Course as part of our Path to Purpose: Skills for Life project.

When: Monday 1st, 8th and 15th June
Time: 9:00am–3:00pm
Attendance: Full attendance across all three dates is needed

Course overview
The course will include:
- Workshop and hand tool health and safety
- Correct use of common woodworking hand tools
- Measuring and marking timber accurately
- Cutting and preparing timber for joining
- Producing butt and lap joints
- Planning and constructing a small wooden toolbox holder with a handle
- Assembling and finishing a wooden project
You will be given a learner portfolio to complete throughout the course, where you can take notes and add evidence of the skills you have practised.
This is a very practical, hands-on course using handheld tools throughout. Each session is six hours long, and arms, hands and grip can become tired. Please consider this before booking. If you have any health conditions or concerns, please let us know on the day and take regular breaks when needed.
The course is interactive and focused on craftsmanship, careful measuring, accurate cutting, and completing each stage properly. There are no shortcuts, and support will be available throughout.
Please wear suitable clothing and appropriate footwear. You cannot work in the workshop wearing open-toed shoes.
At Meyrick Street, we have disabled access, accessible toilets, a small kitchen and free parking. Parking spaces are limited, but someone will be outside to assist with parking at the beginning of the first day.
Food is funded. You can either bring your own food, or we can order food on the day. We also have a fridge and microwave available if needed. Please advise us of any dietary requirements beforehand.
We are looking forward to welcoming learners onto the course.
