St Andrew's Church, Fingringhoe, CO5 7BN
Description
Part of the Roman River Festival 2024 - See all concerts here.
Established as one of the most innovative and adventurous quartets of its generation, and praised for their “immaculate precision and spirit” (The Strad) and “cultured tone” (Arts Desk), the Solem Quartet brings a programme awash with light and colour to the beautiful Norman church of St. Andrew's in Fingringhoe.
This promises to be an evening of familiar delights and new discoveries, with Edmund Finnis’ stunning Devotions (composed in 2022) complemented by more established works: the sumptuous impressionism of Debussy, and two pieces - arranged for quartet - by the Boulanger sisters. The Boulangers were students of Gabriel Fauré who dominated the musical life of Paris as renowned teachers and composers.
