Wild Arts return to The Charterhouse to raise funds for their charitable activities.

Arrive from 6pm for drinks in the Master’s Court, the historic ceremonial entrance to the Charterhouse Estate, before enjoying Wild Arts' acclaimed production of Eugene Onegin (★★★★ The Times, ★★★★★ Opera Magazine, ★★★★★ Mark Aspen).

Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous music tells a story of love, loss, rejection, and despair, with beguiling melodies, superb drama, and grand balls. Directed by the former Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe, Dominic Dromgoole, and performed in period costume with a chamber orchestra accompaniment, the performance will be held within the intimate Tudor splendour of the Great Hall – with its striking arched ceiling, magnificent windows, and fireplace by Edmund Kinsman. With a select audience of just 100, this is an opportunity to see world-class performers up close.

Between the first and second halves, there will be a champagne and canapé reception in the Great Chamber, the only Tudor great chamber to survive in London. Built in the 1540s and renovated in 2020, the chamber was where Elizabeth I met her Privy Council in 1558 in the days before her coronation, and where James I created 130 Knights.

The evening is in aid of the Charterhouse in London, with tickets priced at £150 per person. All proceeds support the care of our almshouse residents and our historic estate.

About The Charterhouse

The mission of The Charterhouse is to provide a home for people aged 60 and over with a housing need and to support independent living, while sharing our heritage and investing in it for future generations. Formally known as Sutton’s Hospital in Charterhouse (Charity no. 207773) it is an almshouse and a housing charity located in Clerkenwell, London – between Barbican and Smithfield.

The Charterhouse is a private foundation, and while we draw an income from the investments of our founder’s original legacy, rising costs mean that demands on the Charterhouse for the provision of care for our residents, and the preservation of our buildings, are as great now as at any time in our history. Donations from our supporters make a tangible difference and help greatly in fulfilling our obligations.
