2.5 day Intensive Sculptural Glass Panel: Stained glass, flameworking and fusing at Mulranny Arts, Co. Mayo

Sat 27 Jun 2026 10:00 - Mon 29 Jun 2026 13:00 Mulranny Arts Centre, F28 K033

This three-day intensive introduces students to stained glass, fusing and flameworking techniques through the creation of a sculptural glass panel. Beginning with stained glass fundamentals, participants will build skills through a small light-catcher before designing and planning a larger piece. Flameworking and fusing techniques are then used to create bespoke glass embellishments, which are integrated into the final panel. The course concludes with soldering and finishing, resulting in a unique, light-catching artwork to take home.

All materials and lunch included.

Day 1 – Stained Glass Foundations & Design
Morning:
An introduction to stained glass fundamentals. You’ll learn safe glass cutting, shaping, foiling and soldering while creating a small light-catcher or “wonky star” to build confidence with the materials and tools.

Afternoon:
Design development for your larger panel. We’ll explore composition and structure, preparing your design for stained glass, flameworked elements and other fused glass embellishments.

Day 2 – Flameworking & Making Embellishments
Morning:
An introduction to flameworking fundamentals. You’ll learn how to safely work with the torch to create glass embellishments such as beads, droplets, and sculptural details.

Afternoon:
Cutting, grinding, foiling and fusing the glass for your larger panel. You’ll begin composing your piece, integrating your handmade flameworked elements into the stained glass design.

Day 3 – Soldering & Finishing
Morning:
Soldering and finishing your larger panel. You’ll learn how to achieve clean structural joins, add final details, and finish your piece ready for hanging.
