Wild Brain: For the Adult ADHD community

Fri 31 Jul 2026 19:00 - 20:30 Ballybay Wetlands' Woodland, Clones Rd, Co. Monaghan, A75 HF78

A monthly, free community gathering for adults with ADHD to connect, unwind, and spend time in nature.

If you've never heard of Forest School, don't worry—this isn't a class or a course. Forest School is an approach that encourages learning, wellbeing, creativity, and connection through spending time outdoors. Rather than following a strict schedule, it's about having the freedom to explore, notice, create, rest, and simply be in a natural environment.

These monthly gatherings are being created because there is currently no dedicated support group for adults with ADHD in our community. Many of us spend our lives feeling misunderstood or trying to fit into environments that weren't designed for neurodivergent minds. This is a space where you can meet people who genuinely understand those experiences—without pressure to explain yourself.

I'm not coming as an expert with all the answers. I need this community just as much as the people who attend. While I won't be teaching traditional Forest School skills like fire lighting or tool use, I'll provide a welcoming woodland space with optional, self-led nature-based activities and resources for anyone who wants to explore them. There will also be tea, coffee, and plenty of opportunities to chat—or simply enjoy being alongside others in the forest.

One of the wonderful things about Forest School is that there are no expectations to participate in a particular way. If you want to wander, sit quietly, fidget while chatting, make something with natural materials, or simply enjoy a hot drink, you're welcome to do that. You don't need to stay for the full 90 minutes either—come for ten minutes or the whole session. Whatever feels right for you.

The forest is a particularly supportive place for many neurodivergent people. Nature offers gentle sensory experiences, fewer social demands, and space to move freely without feeling confined. The sights, sounds, and rhythms of the woodland can help quiet the constant mental noise that many people with ADHD experience, making it easier to regulate, recharge, and connect with both ourselves and others. There's no pressure to perform in the forest—it simply invites you to be present in your own way.

What to expect:

  • A relaxed, informal woodland gathering.
  • Tea, coffee, and a friendly welcome.
  • Optional self-led nature activities and resources.
  • Time to chat with others who understand life with ADHD.
  • No pressure to stay for the full session or participate in everything.
  • A supportive, judgement-free environment.

The sessions are free to attend because everyone deserves access to community and connection. If you're able to, donations are gratefully accepted to help cover refreshments, resources, and the ongoing running of the group, but there is absolutely no obligation.

Whether you've just been diagnosed, have known about your ADHD for years, or you're simply looking for a place where you can be yourself, you're very welcome to join us.
