Have you always wanted to learn how to draw or paint?

Maybe you used to create all the time and haven't picked up a pencil or paintbrush in years. Maybe you've never considered yourself "an artist" but would love to try. Or maybe you simply want a reason to slow down, get creative, and make something with your own hands.

Creative Foundations is a relaxed four-week private art course designed for beginners and returning artists.

This isn't a traditional art class where everyone has to make the same thing. Instead, we'll focus on learning foundational skills, experimenting with different mediums, looking at the work of famous artists, and building confidence along the way.

You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, work at your own pace, and receive personalized guidance throughout every lesson.

🎨 What We'll Explore

Lesson 1 — Drawing & Value | Leonardo da Vinci
We'll begin with drawing fundamentals, including observation, proportion, form, light, shadow, and value. We'll look at Leonardo's detailed observational work and explore how artists create dimension and realism through simple changes in value.

Lesson 2 — Color & Watercolor | Georgia O'Keeffe
We'll explore color mixing, color relationships, composition, and watercolor techniques inspired by O'Keeffe's bold approach to flowers and nature. You'll learn how to work with watercolor while developing a better understanding of color.

Lesson 3 — Ink & Illustration | Vincent van Gogh
We'll explore the expressive side of drawing through ink. You'll experiment with line weight, hatching, texture, and mark-making while looking at Van Gogh's drawings and the way he used line to create movement and energy.

Lesson 4 — Personal Creative Project | Find Your Style
For our final lesson, you'll choose what you want to create. Maybe it's a painting of a favorite place, a drawing of your pet, a botanical piece, an illustration, or something completely different.

We'll develop your idea together and use the skills you've learned throughout the course to create an original finished piece that feels like you.
