Build your own bird box

Mon 17 Feb 2025 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Quaker Meeting House, SP2 7EF

*Ticket sales end Fri 14th Feb at 5pm - so we can prepare accordingly, including baking!*

Join us for a hands-on event where you will learn about birds and build your own bird nest box to take home. No experience necessary - our team will guide you through the process step by step. We will be putting nest box kits together using hammers and screwdrivers. An important part of the event is enjoying hot drinks and homemade biscuits and cake together!

We will be celebrating National Nest Box Week, which takes place every year 14-21 February. It marks the beginning of the breeding season for our wonderful birds, and is the perfect time to put nest boxes up. Our towns and cities in the UK are often lacking in natural nest sites, and a nest box is a great way to provide space for birds to breed and roost. This is a wonderful way to contribute to making your local area a more welcoming place for wildlife, all whilst enjoying the company of others.

Who is it for?

This event is suitable for anyone interested in wildlife and wellbeing who wants to spend time in nature with others, learning new things. We value diversity, and hope to create a community that reflects the breadth of people in our society. Please share any medical, mobility, dietary or other needs on booking, so we can plan activities (and snacks!) that are suitable for all.

FAQs

Do we go ahead in the rain?

We believe in getting out whatever the weather! Please assume the session is going ahead unless you hear otherwise by email the day before. We may postpone if the weather forecast is really wet/stormy, but will go ahead in most weathers e.g. light rain, showers.

What if I'm late?

Please aim to arrive at 10.45am, ready to start at 11. We'll start with hot drinks, cake and biscuits and learn about birds, before starting nest box building around 11.30am.
