Spring Wildlife Discovery Morning

Join us to explore the hidden wildlife of Salisbury, within walking and wheeling distance from the city centre. Wildlife is unpredictable, but we hope to spot birds, trees, insects, flowers and more. We'll mindfully take notice of the changes that happen in nature quietly and often quickly at this time of year - things like leaves and flowers emerging, an increase in insect activity and the return of birdsong. We may spot a Treecreeper on one of the magnificent ancient Beech trees or a Peregrine Falcon taking a break from nesting on the Cathedral. Who knows what other wildlife we will see?

Hot drinks and homemade cake provided! 

The route will be mostly level. 

Rough schedule:

• 10am - welcome with hot drinks and homemade cake
• 10.30am - set off on our guided mini-adventure around the park 
• 12pm - finish

Who is it for?

This event is suitable for anyone interested in wildlife and wellbeing who wants to spend time in nature with others, learning new things. We value diversity, and hope to create a community that reflects the breadth of people in our society. Please share any medical, mobility, dietary or other needs on booking, so we can plan activities (and snacks!) that are suitable for all. 

Where?

Victoria Park, Salisbury SP1 3NE - see below for a photo of the exact location and/or see this Google Maps pin. The route will be approximately 1 mile on fairly level, hard surfaces.

Basic benches will be available for sitting on at the start and end of the session. There are free public toilets in the park. See Salisbury City Council's website for more info.

What we provide

• Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, herbal tea and homemade biscuits and cake on arrival 

What to bring

• Dress for the weather. We will be outside for the duration of the session. Please check the weather forecast and bring waterproofs and warm layers. Bring binoculars if you have them.
• Guide dogs are welcome but no other dogs please.

Cost 

• £12 - adult.
• £8 - child.
• Or by donation - pay what you feel.

FAQs

Do we go ahead in the rain?

We believe in getting out whatever the weather! Please assume the session is going ahead unless you hear otherwise by email the day before. We may postpone if the weather forecast is really wet/stormy, but will go ahead in most weathers e.g. light rain, showers. Always check the weather forecast and dress for the weather.

What if I'm late?

Please aim to arrive ready to start at 10am. We'll start at the location below with hot drinks, cake and biscuits before heading off on our adventure at around 10.30am.
