Wildlife and Bushcraft

Tue 2 Dec 2025 4:00 PM - Tue 9 Dec 2025 5:00 PM Rise 61 Community Garden, Bemerton Heath, SP2

*Ticket sales will end at 4pm on Mon 1st December if not already fully booked*

Join us to learn about wildlife and learn bushcraft skills in the lovely Rise 61 Community Garden. These sessions are for 8-16 year olds.

4-5pm on Tuesdays 2 Dec and 9 Dec (potential for more in 2026). Over the course of 2 sessions, we will:

- identify tree species - using fallen leaves, buds, flowers, fruits (including seeds and nuts), bark and the shape of the tree

- learn birdsong - listening to the winter "dusk chorus", quieter than dawn and summer, but we will still hear some birds!

- have a go at lighting a campfire without matches

- cook popcorn on the campfire (and eat it - sweet, salty or both - it's up to you!)

FAQs

Do we go ahead in the rain?

We can use the Rise 61 cabin for shelter, AND we believe in getting out whatever the weather! Please assume the session is going ahead unless you hear otherwise by email the day before. We may postpone if the weather forecast is really wet/stormy, but will go ahead in most weathers e.g. light rain, showers. Always check the weather forecast and dress for the weather.

What if I'm late?

Please aim to arrive ready to start at the start time.
