Join us to learn about birds and trees in Bemerton Folly and Pinewood Open Space. These sessions are for 11-16 year olds. 

4.30-5.30pm on Mondays 2nd-23rd March (potential for more after Easter). Over the course of 4 sessions, we will:

- Explore Bemerton Heath's amazing greenspaces

- Learn to identify tree species - using fallen leaves, buds, flowers, fruits (including seeds and nuts), bark and the shape of the tree

- Learn to identify birds by sight - making the most of the bare trees which help us to see birds more easily

- Learn birdsong - the birds are pairing up and we're into breeding season now, with plenty of birdsong to tune into!

Who is it for?

These sessions are for 11-16 year olds who live in Bemerton Heath and are interested in wildlife and wellbeing and learning new things. Please share any medical, mobility or other needs in the booking form, so we can plan activities that are suitable for all. 

Where?

Meet outside the Bemerton Heath Centre to explore Bemerton Folly and Pinewood Open Space.

What to bring

  • Dress for the weather. We will be outside for the majority of the session. Please check the weather forecast and bring waterproofs and warm layers.
  • You might want to bring a bottle of water.
  • Guide dogs are welcome but no other dogs please.

FREE! Donations are welcome.

FAQs

Do we go ahead in the rain?

We believe in getting out whatever the weather! Please assume the session is going ahead unless you hear otherwise by email the day before. We may postpone if the weather forecast is really wet/stormy, but will go ahead in most weathers e.g. light rain, showers. Always check the weather forecast and dress for the weather. 

What if I'm late?

Please aim to arrive ready to start at the start time. We want to make the most of our time together and get out exploring asap!
