Seashore Edibles 2025
Sun 27 Apr 2025 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM
East Prawle coastline, South Devon, TQ7 2BY
Description
The coastline of this country has a rich harvest of food material. Our ancestors would have relied upon the seashore to provide a major portion of their diet, especially during the lean times of the year. Edible seaweeds, molluscs, fish and coastal plants are abundant in the clean and clear waters of South Devon.
This Seashore Edibles afternoon out on the beaches and bays of this beautiful coastline will be spent foraging on the strandline, rock-pool rambling, beachcombing and preparing a diverse menu of seashore foods using a number of different cooking methods. There may also be time for paddling and swimming so please feel free to bring swimsuits / wetsuits etc.
Timings are dependent on the tides. We anticipate a 10.30am meeting/start time and a 3pm finish. However this will be reconfirmed near to the event date with detailed joining instructions and directions.
PLEASE NOTE: This event will involve some walking on uneven terrain and may occasionally involve some scrambling over rocks etc and therefore is not well suited to those of limited mobility.
