Artificial intelligence (“AI”) is rapidly becoming part of everyday working life. Employees are using tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini to draft emails, prepare reports, analyse data and support decision-making, often without employers fully understanding the extent of that use.

While AI offers significant opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency, it also presents a growing range of employment law and employee relations challenges. What happens when an employee uploads confidential information into an AI platform? Should employees be required to disclose their use of AI? Can AI-generated evidence be relied upon in disciplinary and grievance investigations? And how far can employers safely use AI within their own employee relations processes?

In this practical and interactive session, we will explore the emerging issues employers are encountering and provide guidance on managing AI-related risks in the workplace.

We'll discuss:

  • How employees are using AI in their day-to-day roles and the risks this creates for employers
  • When the use of AI may amount to misconduct
  • Managing confidentiality and data protection implications
  • Employee monitoring and the use of AI
  • Managing AI generated data protection complaints
  • AI-generated grievances, witness statements and disciplinary responses
  • The opportunities and risks to the employer using AI during disciplinary and grievance processes
  • Developing effective workplace AI policies and governance frameworks
  • Practical steps employers can take to minimise legal and employee relations risks

With AI adoption accelerating across all sectors, this session will help HR professionals and managers navigate one of the most significant workplace developments of recent years.

Who should attend?

HR professionals, people managers, employee relations specialists and anyone responsible for workplace investigations or policy development.
