Building Reflexivity: Foundations & Reflexivity in Action

Mon 9 Nov 2026 9:30 AM - Tue 10 Nov 2026 4:30 PM British Psychological Society, nr Old Street, London, EC2A 4DT

A two-day developmental pathway for coaches and supervisors

9–10 November 2026
British Psychological Society, 30 Tabernacle Street, London EC2A 4DT

Building reflexivity is a journey.

For the first time, coaches and supervisors new to the programme can choose to attend both Building Reflexivity 1 and Building Reflexivity 2 as a connected two-day experience.

Together, the two days provide an opportunity to move from developing reflexive awareness into practising reflection-in-action — strengthening your ability to notice and work with your own internal process while coaching or supervising.

Participants from previous workshops described the experience as:

“A really interesting, thought-provoking, connecting and practice-enhancing day.”

“I came with curiosity and left with so much more.”

“I hope there is a part 2…”

Day 1 – Building Reflexivity 1 (9 November)

Developing reflexive capacity: understanding how your own histories, assumptions, behaviours and patterns shape the impact you have with clients.

Working with real client situations, you will deepen your ability to:

  • Notice the assumptions and histories shaping your responses
  • Develop greater awareness of what you bring into coaching and supervision relationships
  • Strengthen your ability to manage yourself in order to have the impact you intend
  • Build practices that support deeper reflexive awareness

Day 2 – Building Reflexivity 2: Reflexivity in Action (10 November)

Developing the internal supervisor in action.

The focus shifts to reflection-in-action — developing the capacity to remain fully engaged with your client while simultaneously monitoring your own internal process in the moment.

This is challenging work because it requires a form of dual attention. Yet when cultivated, it strengthens reflexivity, deepens the working alliance, and enhances client outcomes.

You will:

  • Consolidate and deepen learning from Day 1
  • Practise reflection-in-action through live coaching and supervision exercises
  • Develop your internal supervisor through structured peer feedback
  • Refine pre- and post-session practices to sustain reflexive capacity in everyday work

Who is this for?

Experienced coaches and supervisors who want to deepen their capacity to work reflexively and strengthen the quality of their impact in practice.
