Crash Course in Wine Waffle (Beginners)

Have you ever watched someone sniff their glass and reel off random words like minerality and tannins, while you have no clue what's going on? Fear not, we've all been there.

You love wine, but you have no idea which one to order. Either every glass tastes the same, or nothing tastes how you expect. So you point at the second-cheapest bottle and hope for the best. (Restaurants know this is a common move btw, and they price accordingly.)

Coming from a girl who has been in your shoes, here's what everyone is gatekeeping: wine is not a science. There is no correct answer, only personal preference. There are no absolutes in the world of wine, only generalisations and patterns.

Learn the famous ones and you can hold a wine conversation about any bottle, anywhere, and never feel excluded again.

This isn't a classroom. It's the condensed, key information you'll actually use in your everyday life in London. Everyone gets a personalised tasting kit, and I prepare the smells live: fruit sliced fresh, cut grass, gravel and soil, all passed around the table. So the next time someone says "gooseberry", you'll know exactly what they're smelling, because you've smelled it yourself.

You will leave being able to:

  • Read the whole story from one sniff: the climate it grew in and how it was made
  • Recognise the famous wine patterns and anecdotes that get you into any conversation

And you'll take home:

  • White and red tasting cards, plus your own notes from the night
  • A personal shortlist of styles you love, ready to order again
