Schubert's Trout Quintet and The Lark Ascending
Sun 2 Jul 2023 19:00 - 21:00 BST
Christ Church, Port Sunlight, CH62 5EF
Description
Join the Festival Players, led by Thelma Handy, for a programme celebrating the joy of the countryside with music by Vaughan Williams, Bridge and Schubert. Written in the shadow of World War I, the Lark Ascending tells the tale of a skylark, free from human angst, singing an impossibly beautiful, almost heavenly song. The masterpiece that is the Trout Quintet, written by a young Schubert whilst on a countryside holiday, is light, carefree and melodious, and conjures up good times and warm friendship.
