Corporate Workday at New Ferry Butterfly Park
Tue 25 Mar 2025 09:30 - 16:00
New Ferry Butterfly Park, CH62 5BU
Description
A corporate workday at New Ferry Butterfly Park. Volunteers wanted to lead/mentor WSP staff who have volunteers to spend a day working at the Butterfly Park.
An example of some of the tasks for the WSP volunteers to be involved with:
- Digging a hole between the lower focal pond to the hedge to sink an old bath into, adding some of the old pond liner to make a wetland area for ladies' smock for orange tip butterflies.
- Digging out bramble and blackthorn patches, made easy with root laying spades in the rough calcareous grassland
- Turf and birch removal over the railway ballast area to create a wildflower grassland.
- Turning the compost and bagging up the compost and last year’s woodchip.
- Work around the container digging out a bit and relaying with aggregate, possibly sinking in another anchor point for the wheelbarrows just so we can have two chains one for the wheelbarrows and one for the trolleys. it is quite a stretch for the current chain.
- Removal of Two flowered honey suckle
- Scraping back the turf along the road edges
If you are available and would like to volunteer to work with WSP staff on any of the above tasks, please book a place.
