Woodland Management Weekend

There will be a woodland management weekend in Thornton Wood coppicing hazel stools between Lamperloons and Quarter Bank Coppices and hedge planting at the back of Lamperloons Coppice. There will be a general lifting of shade from coppice areas to aid the regrowth. Access between these two coppices will be improved. It is a great chance to make progress in the coppice areas in Thornton Wood.  Coppiced material will be transported to New Ferry Butterfly Park at the end of the session.

Remember to bring refreshments and a packed lunch.  Please wear footwear and clothing suitable for outdoor working in changeable weather conditions.  For novices attending, tools and appropriate PPE will be provided.

The meeting place for this event is not accurately shown on the map below.  Meet on Thornton Common Road on the bridge which crosses the M53.  Meet at 09:15 to move to the woods at 09:30
