WISTA Singapore presents: Unmute Yourself - Interactive Workshop with Executive Voice Coach David Pope

We had a fantastic launch in Singapore of the IMO-WISTA Maritime Speakers’ Bureau jointly held by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and WISTA Singapore at Sea Asia on 25 April 2023.

So, we continue our “Unmute Yourself” series with an interactive workshop by David Pope, which will be all about this magic ingredient called "gravitas".

“Gravitas: Voice and Presence” will be a 90 minute workshop that focuses on how by using specific vocal and physical techniques anyone can convey gravitas to speak with authority and confidence. Using audio and video samples, participants work in groups and in pairs to practice and maximise their learning. The exercises also offer plenty of opportunity for team building and networking.

Citing a CTI Executive Presence survey (2013) and Science of People research findings (2015), this highly interactive session explores:

• What constitutes "gravitas"
• What a voice with gravitas sounds like
• Using the science of the voice to speak with gravitas
• How speakers use vocal variety to project gravitas
• The crucial importance of non-verbals: posture, gesture and expression

Starting at the BBC, David has since worked as an audio producer, director and voiceover artist, and now as an Executive Voice Coach. He brings 30 years of experience in recording studios to the thousands of business professionals he has worked with globally, from Managing Partners, Lawyers and CEOs to business executives and TEDx speakers. His 1:1 coaching sessions, workshops, webinars and online video courses, focus on transforming voices – helping good speakers become great speakers. His workshops are CPD accredited by the Law Society, Hong Kong and the Government of Dubai.
