Harvest Week - Flax

Pulling together - Flax harvest week at Willow and Lore

Join us on Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th or Thursday 20th August for our flax harvest

Get a tour of Willow and Lore Heritage Farm meeting and finding out about our jacob sheep and sustainable farming systems. 

Watch a demonstration of traditional cottage flax scutching and get a chance to try it yourself

Get hands on helping us to harvest some flax for as much of the rest of the day as you wish - no expectations but we recommend allowing at least an hour, to enjoy the atmosphere in the harvest field - it can be a surprisingly relaxing and satisfying activity 

Light refreshments will be available and feel free to bring your own picnic to enjoy in the flax field. 

Some fun activities will be available for kids (under 5yrs go free)

Farm tour and flax field involve uneven ground surfaces and some short slopes, seating will be available at the flax field. Walking boots or wellies and warm and waterproof layers are advised to account for the changeable Northern Ireland weather. If there is a lot of rain and the flax is wet we won't be harvesting. No pets allowed on site, except service animals by prior arrangement.
