Will you accept the quest to walk the steps of your ancestors through the original Halloween? Escape from the Dullahan, take on the challenges of the Púca and unravel the tricks of the Aos Sí. The ultimate team challenge, this live action game has been designed to have a role for everyone in your team, the brains and the brawn, the scholar and the mathematician, the riddler and the creator. 

Long ago, in the first age of Ireland, when the hills still murmured the names of forgotten gods and the rivers carried whispers from the Otherworld, at each turning of the year, as the light waned and the breath of winter coiled through the land, the people gathered to mark Samhain — Summer’s end. It was the ending of harvest. The fields, stripped of grain, lay sleeping beneath a silver mist. The cattle were herded down from the wild hills, and the last potatoes sheltered in the straw. The sun’s strength faltered; the year’s bright half was dying. Now came the dark. Fires must be raised to defy the gathering cold, for on this night, on this cusp between seasons, the veil that parted the world of the living from the dead grew thin as mist.

The legends of that time live on, the sacred fire fed with the bones of animals that had sustained the village through the year, now our bonfires, the embers carried home from the sacred fire in hollowed turnips to relight the fire in their hearths, now our pumpkin lamps, the cloaks of animal hides and monstrous face masks worn to fool any wandering evil spirit into thinking them one of their own, now our Halloween costumes and the treats laid out to appease the mischievous fairy folk, free to roam on this night, now our trick or treat

This is an escape room style game with extra challenges along the way that will lead you through the ancient customs and rituals of the original Halloween

Play at Willow and Lore Haunted Farm, Newtowncrommelin from Friday 16th October until Sunday 1st November.

The game lasts for up to 60 minutes with sessions starting at 6:00pm, 7:45pm and 9:30pm each evening

FAQ'S

What is the objective of the game?

• Basic level: Find the exit in each room and follow clues to unlock the passage to the next room. Higher level:  As well as exiting each room, solve additional riddles and complete additional challenges in the required time to win a bottle of wine to celebrate with. It is up to you on the day what level you want to play the game at.

How many people are in a team?

• The Legends of Samhain live action game has been designed for one team of 4 to 7 players. If your group has less than 4 players, try to scare up some more people to join you. If you have more than 7, split into two groups and book into consecutive sessions - we can squeeze the gap between the sessions a little and accommodate everyone into the final space to chat together before heading home

Can anyone play?

• We have tried to make our game as accessible as possible but you will be required to ascend and descend 3 steps during the game play.
• The Legends of Samhain live action game has some clues suitable for children over 12 however each group will require at least two adults.
• Our game requires very light physical effort from at least 1 person in the group. 
• Many clues are purely visual. At least one member of your team should have good eyesight and don't forget reading glasses if needed. All instructions are in English.

Do we need to be good at logic puzzles to play the game?

• The game has been specially designed with the aim of including challenges for all types of players, whether you prefer to search, solve or build, work with words, numbers, pictures or tools we have tried to ensure everyone in your group can engage and contribute to the team challenge.

What scare level can we expect?

• Lets go with a bit freaked out rather than totally terrified
• The aim of this game is to give you a different Halloween experience, we are not just trying to scare you at every turn. 
• But it is still a Halloween experience so will include some frightening features, some limited visibility, and some flashing lights and loud noises. 
• The doors ahead of you will be locked, however your route from the entrance will remain open as you progress through the game should you need to make a quick exit.

How much time does it take?

• Each game lasts for up to 60 minutes but please allow an hour and a half. 
• You must arrive up to 15 minutes before the start of your game to find out how to play the game and get prepared. If you arrive earlier than 15 minutes before your time slot please wait in your vehicle to allow the previous group to leave. 
• Everyone has different abilities and plays at different speeds, we allow some flexibility however there is a 60 minute upper time limit. We aim to allow a little time at the end for you to 'recover'

What should we wear?

• The game takes place in our haunted farm buildings, you will be sheltered from rain but warm clothing is essential. The game master has a few 'interesting' challenges for you so wear clothes that you don't mind getting just a little grubby, depending on how much you want to put into the game.
• Want to get in the game masters good books then come in your Halloween costume

How much does it cost?

• Individual tickets are priced at £29.50 and you must purchase a ticket for every player in your team. Teams should have a minimum of 4 players, a maximum of 7 players and the game is for one team per time slot. All the tickets for your team must be purchased together at the time of booking

Can we change or cancel our booking?

• We cannot refund cancellations unless we are fully booked and have requests on our waiting list confirmed. Subject to availability, you may be able to change the time and or date on your booking up to 7 days before your game by contacting us on +44 (0)7857 57 97 10 or willowandlore@outlook.com. You must have purchased the correct number of tickets for the number of players on your team. You can add more players to your team up to the maximum of 7 players right up to and including on the night, just contact us and we will provide an additional player booking link. Unfortunately we cannot refund individual tickets within your bookings.
