Have you ever wondered what it looks like inside a hive? Thinking about taking your first step into beekeeping but want to see what is involved ? Or looking for something different to give a friend or loved one who has an interest in bees and beekeeping as a gift?
We provide a two hour ‘Taster Session’ that will give the participant an insight into the world of the honey bee and beekeeping. You will be able to find out about the honey bee lifecycle and how bees are looked after during an introductory talk. Then you will put on a beekeeping suit and look into a live hive and watch the honey bees at work, accompanied by one of our experienced volunteer beekeepers who will explain what is happening.
2023 Taster Session dates are:
Sunday 21st May 1pm - 3pm
Saturday 1st July 1pm - 3pm
Sunday 30th July 1pm - 3pm
Beesuits are provided but you will need to bring your own wellington boots and rubber gloves.
The cost is £20 per person including refreshments, leaflets, use of a beesuit and the beekeeping experience. The event will be held at the Association apiary near East Walton - a map and directions will be provided nearer the time.
Places for each session are limited - to book please click on the link to the right. You will also need to sign a copy of the disclaimer form below, which will be emailed to you in advance. Also please let us know about any allergies and provide an emergency contact number (these will be requested on the booking form).
We look forward to introducing you to the wonderful world of bees !
