The Defence and National Security sector can appear to be an austere environment. A career in this sector equally as challenging to navigate or even find an entry point into. Defence must become more lethal within extremely short timescales, years not decades. Extant programmes will neither counter the asymmetry imposed by our adversaries, nor will they meet the outlined timescales for enhanced lethality. Therefore, the adoption of innovative commercial and military technologies, at the pace of relevance, is essential to achieve competitive advantage as Defence adapts and transforms.

Transformation requires diverse teams, people who bring full spectrum thinking to complex Defence challenges. Ensuring that young women who choose technical careers have a seat at the Defence table, and a voice, is of strategic national importance if we are to develop the required contemporary technologies at the pace of relevance.

The WED "Inspire" event, kindly sponsored and hosted by BT Defence, is a forum to understand technical career paths and opportunities in Defence and National Security for emergent women technologists. Interactive sessions and amazing (young) Women speakers will provide inspiration for the whole of Defence.
